Blood noses
I am a little bit prone to blood noses, from just blowing my nose it can start a bleed. Often i get one during a hot shower (no - not that type of hot!), it is more common during the summer (not s much shower ones).
I have never had one while cycling thank god, but I do worry. I push pretty hard sometimes as I am competitive, and have been basically stumbling to the ground after hill climbs and Individual Time Trials. Should I be worried? I have done over 6,500kms on my road bike alone without a bleed.
comments plz

I don't it should be a matter of concern.
I recall my brother used to get nose bleeds and some of them were really impressive - BLOOD EVERYWHERE!!! WOW!!!
But he always seemed to get them at night. I don't recall him ever getting one under any other conditions.
Also, what is the worse that can happen if you get a nose bleed while riding the bike? You will have to stop and do something to staunch the flow (just carry some tissue in are zip lock bag in your bike bag).
Also I would avoid riding the bike in a hot shower especially at high speeds. But somehow, I don't think you do this.

i hate to tell you this but my 15 year old cousin just recently started having alot of bloody noses and he went to the doctor. the doctor sent him to a CARDIOLOGIST. it turns out that all 4 of his heart valves are LEAKING! so apparently his heart is screwed up. but i think all he has to do is take some medicine and they said he should be fine.

My brother had this problem, I think that there was nothing wrong with him but the doctor cauterized his nose and that put a end to the nose bleeding.

You can have nosebleeds if you consume aspirin, NSAIDs, or any other form of blood thinner. I remember having a lot of nosebleeds when I was in my early teens and it was associated with taking aspirin for the headaches I had at that time.

I used to get nosebleeds all of the time. They would even last up to 45 minutes withous letting up. One day while at work I could not get one to let up so my co-workers took me in to the hospital. The e.r. doctor had to carterize my nose becuase the blood vessels inside my nose protruded out side of the inner nose. All it wouls take was a hard sneeze or a stron nose blowing and the end of the vessels would rupture. I had this procedure done 13 years ago and I can count on 1 hand how many nose bleeds I have had since. My advice is see a doctor, my nosebleeds were so bad I would have bllod coming out of my mouth and I would start choking on my own blood,so dont tilt that head back if you have a gusher!!!!!

my younger brother had alot of nose bleeds when he was younger 12-16 (mostly at night), and what he did was take petroleum jelly and with a Q-tip smear it around the inside of his nose, the dr. said that is his case his nose was not staying moist and thus the drier skin was more prone to breaking thus causing the nose bleeds, he had to do this for a good year or two, daily, and to my knowledge has not had one since
have you tried taking same stiff paper (i.e. an index card or folder) and rolling it up (like a cigarette) and placing it under your uplip infront of your teeth and appling pressure up towards your nose to stop the nose bleed (a soccer trick i learned years ago) i think it works quicker then pinching your nose, personally

I get bleeding from the nose quite often too, especially during the winter... can be once in 2 weeks.
