You know it has a name.....

Well here it goes the undoing of myself in BikeForums.... but i'm going to ask it anyway...My bikes name is "Rush" yes I call him that .....out loud just like he's a person....go on laugh it's ok. I can't be the ONLY one who has a name for their bike -- so ? anyone out there want to own up to it?

When I first got this Raleigh Rush SS I had been riding a mountain bike for YEARS. Needless to say it took Rush and I awhile to work it allllll out. I fell over in the bushes.....I fell off a curb.....I very gently fell over in a median. After awhile I learned not to shove so hard on him that he took a more delicate touch...he scares easier than Rock ( mtn bikes name ) but he's much stronger....I see him like a race horse...very thin and nimble but pretty skittish at times.....together we have become fast and quick.

Rush inspires me.

I generally call mine #@%&!

There are many well loved bikes which have acquired names. If you visit the Classic & Vintage forum, you will find that there are quite a few people who have named their bikes.

But in my case, most of them are identified by colour, and maker, and sometimes the model...

I've never seen a male bicycle. Pics? :D

I have never named my bike, never named my car, never named my [insert any object here].

Everyone else wants to name my stuff for me, though.

unixpro 08-23-07 12:04 PM

My bike has the same name that Stacey's does. Bet there are lots of bikes with that name.

CdCf 08-23-07 01:21 PM

I don't refer to my bikes using names, but instead types, since they're different kinds of bikes.
However, my true road bike does have an unofficial name "Kvicksilver" (Quicksilver) because it's a go-fast bike and it's all silver. But I never use the name in practice.

atomship47 08-23-07 01:57 PM

he mister, don't call your bike "rush,".....call him "***** head"

Shavit 08-23-07 04:41 PM

Bikeninjagirl, i have a name for mine too ... kind of like a boat, it needed a name ... superstition or not.

my bike's name is 'Katie'.

My wife's orange bike is named Kipper (yes, after the preschoolers' cartoon).
Mine is red and white, and has so far avoided being named, partly because I told her I was NOT having a bike called Elmo.

slvoid 08-25-07 05:23 AM

I call my weekend bike the "road bike" and the commuter the "track bike".

Velo Dog 08-25-07 12:33 PM

Mine must be ******, because when people come up behind me they say, "Move it over, ******."

Forget names...that is a HILARIOUS track start video clip!!:roflmao:

It gets funnier every time I watch it!

seafoamer 08-25-07 01:10 PM

I thought all bicycles were male? It the garages that are female.

TomM 08-25-07 02:02 PM

I thought only guys named their thing, I mean bike.

Nachoman 08-25-07 02:53 PM

None of my bikes have names. But when I was in college I named my bike "black beauty", until I lost the rear brake, and never bothered to properly fix it, then I started calling it "black death".

JavaWolf 08-25-07 07:21 PM

I'll spare you the details, but 4-5 months ago I had a few friends over. That was one strange night. Long story short, my bike is now named Lucas, my friend's guitar, Greg. Most of the time though, it gets called other things, none of them positive.
