They are both very similar bikes, the puresport has better components - but the biggest difference is that the puresport has a suspension front while the Townie does not.

You haven't told us anything about yourself or what you plan to do with the bike so go test ride both of those bikes and see which you like better.

By the way, specs does not have an h in it.

OOPS! You're correct specs. Thanks!
I can purchase the Trek for just about the same price as the Electra...I'll try them both out. Obviously if they feel the same, the Trek would be my choice based upon your input. Thank you!
By the way, which components are better in the Trek and does it make a difference in reliability, durability and/or actual function to have the 'superior' components of the Trek?

No, quality of components doesn't matter. The difference between a $4000 Bianchi and a $125 Schwinn are slim to none.

If you read the entire paragraph you would have clearly seen that I was talking about the components of two SPECIFIC named BIKES with nearly IDENTICAL COST...not some rediculous comparison between the components of a $125 bike and a $4000 bike.

This cannot be anymore false. There is crap, what you pay for and then what you buy if you really got cash to burn. While it's true there is a point of diminishing returns, it is NOT between a $125 schwinn and a $4000 Bianchi.

Do us a favour and stop posting garbage.

I think he was trying to be ironic (I hope anyway). But the irony was misdirected. The OP didn't really say anything to deserve it.
