How do you lock your bikes to a hitch rack?

I just bought a Thule parkway rack for my and the gf's bike. I also got a lock for the hitch itself, but when traveling I'm going to need to secure the bikes to the hitch? Whats the best option for doing such?

My guess would be to lock the bikes together, then take a 2nd lock and lock the bike to the rack by wrapping the chain as tight as possible.....

I haven't had to yet, but if I leave the bikes on the rack for any time I'm going to chain them to the safety-chain loops that are welded to my hitch. This was recommended by my LBS. I don't know about Thule, but the locking cable that Yakima wants to sell me for my rack looks very unimpressive.

U-lock and cable. Run the cable through the car's loop (for being towed) under neath the bumper and u-lock your bicycle. make certain the cable won't catch anything as you drive.
