Base Layers in heat
I've been wearing a polypropelene base layer in the winter,
and last week received one of the mesh base layers to assist "wicking" and cooling. Given I'm doing Hotter than Hell this weekend I figured it can't hurt. I went out yesterday, temps mid to upper 90's, high humidity (for this area) and did a quick 25 mile ride. I have to say I'm impressed, it worked. I was alot more comfortable, didn't have rivulets of sweat running down my torso, and didn't seem to mind the heat/humidity as much. Anyone else have experience with using this type of base layer? Bicycling Hub has some on sale for $12.00 reduced from $39. if anyone is interested. Marty |
I am VERY interested in this.... I ride (maybe near you) in the afternoons with recent temperatures pegging up around 105F. It's just too damn hot to ride sometimes. I am gonna look at this mesh stuff.

I got the idea while watching the tour. almost all of the
riders seemed to have base layers. I'm surprized that there weren't more comments from us hot weather riders. There are quite a few of us from Dallas/FT Worth area if not the rest of texas. I'll let you know after this weekend how it worked for hotter than hell. Marty |
by friend swears by the performance polyester undershirts he wears, be it summer or winter. he said it helps you stay cooler in the summer, and warmer in the winter...!!
