Jersey sizing for women... help

Hi ya'll,

I'm looking to buy my wife a Penn State cycling jersey from velowear.com for christmas (I know it's early, but I just got the idea)... They only have men's sizes available... I know a woman's jersey will fit differently then a man's jersey, but would the sizes be comparable ? And, if so, how uncomfortable would a man's jersey be on a woman ?

Or, if anyone has any resources on where to find a Woman's Penn state jersey... any help would be appreciated

here is the link to the Jersey I am looking at

http://www.velogear.com/penstatunjer.html

Thanks

Jeff

p.s. if this thread would be better in the woman's category, feel free to move it

Well, it depends on the woman. What size does your wife normally wear? I looked at your link and consulted the size chart. If I were purchasing that jersey, I'd probably go with a size Small men's. (Generally, I prefer men's jerseys and have not had a problem with fit, but women who are more busty might have a problem.) For reference, in 'numbered' women's regular clothing sizes, I'd probably wear something like a 4 or a 6. (5'-5", 115 lb.)

I've come to the conclusion that there simply are no 'cool' women's jersey designs.

Good luck! :) It looks like a very nice jersey.

Plus a man's sleeve length will probably be longer and the waist will not be as small in proportion to the chest/shoulders as a woman's would be.

If you go by bust measurment to size a womans into a mans size, make sure to find out the waist size on the mans to ensure that the bottom will fit over the womans hips. This is not to say that all women have larger hip/butts, but for some of us this is a consideration:D !

hmm ok... yeah my wife wears an XL jersey... she's about a 38 C/D bust size... so I'm not 100% sure a man's jersey would give enough room

Easiest way to find her size would be to get her bust measurment. Take a flexible tape measure (you can find one at a sewing store) and measure all around the fullest part of her chest. If you don't want her to know about it, I guess you could take one of her bras, hook it together, and measure around the fullest (cups) part. This would not be as accurate, but it will give you an idea on size.

Good luck!

Well I know her bust size.. or at least what bra size she wears... so I should be in the ballpark...

Does she currently have some jersey's? If so why not find the size she takes there, then go on-line look at the measuremetns they give for that size. Then going by that measurement pick out the male equivelent size.

Usually women's sizes are 1 size larger than men's. I usually get a women's XL jersey or a men's L or M if it is a club cut or a brand that I know runs large.
