Looking for rack trunk for new bike

I'm currently looking for a new rack top bag (rack trunk) for my new road bike. Ideally, I would like to get one to match the bike, either silver, or grey, or silver/black. All black would be the last choice for color. At one time Cannondale made exactly the rack trunk I want, in silver and other colors including red, which I have one of, but their current product of this type is not nearly as good as their old ones. The closest thing I have found so far is Topeak's Super Trunk Bag. It needs to have at least 600 cubic inches of capacity, with expansion capability if possible, 2 side compartments, a carry handle and shoulder strap, and a rigid or very stiff liner to hold heavy items like a camera and binoculars in place. I know this is asking a lot, but it seems like the quality of many bicycle accessories has deteriorated since I last purchased any major items. If anyone has any idea where to get a rack top bag like this, I would appreciate any information. Thanks.

Mabye not the right colors, but check out www.jandd.com bike links near the bottom of the page. I have one of their trunk and one of their handlebar bags as well as a couple of back-packs. They stand behind their products, when I popped a zipper on one of the back-packs I sent it to them, they repaired it and sent it back. To me it is worth it to buy a product I know the company will stand behind! If it's quality you want, this is the place to look, but as I said, not sure if the color selection will suit your taste! Rack Pack II is 700 cu in and expands to 1100 by opening the zipper.

Thanks. I have checked out their products, and they do have decent quality. However, others like the Topeak and the older Cannondale bags have more features, and the black color is not very visible and doesn't do much to insulate the contents during the summer.

I have a topeak rack and bag that has been in year round commuter service for over 5 years and is still in great condition. It is easy on easy off and has a strap and carry handle while off the bike.

My rack trunk has 2 side pockets, straps for a pump, or in my case a seat & post when I take them off the bike and carry them, along with a top pocket. The only feature it doesn't have is a velcro divider as do my Trek & Nashbar trunks. It is fully padded/insulated, and I can put 2 frozen water bottles in their with an ice pack, and retrieve them frozen solid hours after riding in the heat & humidity, which leaves me to believe the padding would do a pretty good job protecting cameras/binoculars (which I carry in the handlebar bag with the riigid frame since I like the cold stuff on the longer rides! As for the black, I can understand your concern about visibility, but it has reflective strips that do a mighty good job in the dark. I would be curious to hear what you actually come up with, I am a bag-hound, and between my 2 bikes and the kids bikes, excess bags always get used one way or another.
