What colour would you paint a bike?
If you could paint your bike any colour you want,
what colour would it be? |
Same color as my old bike so that no one would suspect I bought another one.

Copper, with mild metalflake, and many coats of clear. Brooks saddle, white bar tape. Chrome fenders.
On edit: Merry Christmas! |
I would paint it clear. This would make it invisible.
|
Red, of course. Everyone knows red bikes are faster.
|
Likely Orange. Because Orange is a totally sweet and completely underrated colour!
Possibly Silver, because it would match my Xtracycle Or black, because that would be the next best match for the 'Xtra. Also has that stealth benefit. |
The same color I had my bicycle painted ... blue. After all, blue is the fastest color. :)
|
Everybody knows the fastest color for a bike is black.
White is even faster. Clear Cote over flawlessly clean, bare metal is fastest of all.:D |
3-stage paint: Chrome base coat, transparent red or root beer mid coat...maybe with some pearl, and a couple coats of clear.
Alternate 3-stage paint: Mirage, Mystic, SpectraFX, or ChromaLusion paint (color shifting paint). |

Green. Definitely green. A nice dark green. No, wait. Red. Red is so cool for a bike. A nice racy red. But, blue is so cool. A beautiful shiny blue bike is so pretty. So blue it is. Except, yellow is such a great color for a bike. A good shade of yellow just sets a bike apart from all the others. Except an orange one. Nobody else has an orange bike. Or a black one. Black is so stealthy fast of a color. Black is just so neat looking. But the slickest color of all is chrome. A chrome bike with red decals, cables and bar tape is just the best combination of all.
I guess just paint it any color you want. |
Nope ... it's blue. For two reasons.
1) Blue has a faster frequency than red or most of the other colors. 2) Light bicycles are faster than heavy bicycles. Air is light. The sky is made up of air. The sky is blue. Therefore, blue is the faster color. :D |
Dayglo orange. (Actually mine is Safety Yellow- Safety Orange was an option, though.)
|
black. just gives that stealth element you know. my bike is black. just need pitch black spec ops gear and nightvision plus tmp with silencer. that would = win

What you percieve as color is actually the light bouncing off of an object. Different frequencies of light make an object to appear to be different colors. Now here's where it gets interesting. When the light bounces off of an object, it causes an equal force in the opposite direction. That pushes your bike backward. White bikes are consequently the slowest because they reflect all frequencies of light. Black bikes are the fastest because they don't reflect light frequencies. |
US Treasury Green

Not a color rather an anti-color. I know where to get retro-reflective paint for my frame. So my frame will be the color of whatever light shines on it. Does it mean that if a UV light shines on it, it becomes invisible?
|
Purple.
|
Dear OP. I hope you found the suggestions helpful.
|
Day glo green and yellow.

Why paint the beautiful thing at all? If it's a steel bike, just wire-brush off all the paint and then buff it.
Perfecto! :) |
Red, it's been scientifically proven. I've read the peer-reviewed study on it.
And with a drop of unicorn blood in the paint, the bike will be crash-proof. |
