No... Just no.
And no again. :shakehead:
Doesn't look like the physics would be working in the riders favor. Also what kind of protection for the nether regions??
prone bikes can be quite fast, actually, but that one doesn't look like it would be.
Annoyingly I now have to add another cycle to the list of the ones that I want to try. Still, the actual body shape doesn't look too different from my descent postion.
I'd like to find footage of it moving, I bet that front end is twitchy as hell.
Can't say I'd like having my weight perched on the package like that though. |
looks like the same design for the motor bike in "The Worlds Fastest Indian"
http://www.altfg.com/Stars/posterw/w...est-indian.jpg http://www.indianmotorbikes.com/features/munro/2.jpg just the opposite of the more conventinal design where the rider leans back http://mywebpages.comcast.net/joelw1...in_on_bent.gif |
I have heard the problems with prones is the decreased breathing capacity due to the fact you weight is lying on your chest and diaphram.
makes sense...but then again, there was Graham Obree's position that pushed UCI's rules but made some impact in reducing air resistance and increasing speed

In it's favor, it does make it easier to do a superman over the bars... just need to make sure you don't hang anything dangling on the stem.
Potholes would seriously suck.
With regard to aerodynamics- These things work and I have seen several about 10 years ago with full fairings for high speed on closed circuit attempts at speed records. They were fast- but the riders had also had to train to ride a bike in this position.
You don't really need to pedal. Just keep a-eatin' those beans.
