Crank Bros. 5050 pedal opinions?

(mods feel free to move if there's a better place for this)

so, i think i want a pair of these for my new bike (ss commuter). how much difference is there in the X and XX versions? 'cause i want a black pedal body, and i'm having trouble finding the XX at a good price.

anybody got any comments or suggestions?

The difference between the X and the XX is that the XX comes with the plates that you can interchange and the bearings are sealed. The X doesn't have the extra color option plates and I don't think they are sealed. They both come with and additional set of longer pins.

Keep in mind that I got in line for mine before they were even released so maybe the optional plates come with the X now.

I use the shorter pins and find them pretty grippy. I have them on the "Birthday Cake" that everyone rides.....
