True ! my biggest gripe though too !! Can be a safety issue though, as you automaticly swerve to avoid the glass .
I have Armadillo's on my main bike , although I dont get flats I get plenty of glass slashes in the outer rubber through to the casing , To repair these I deflate the tyre some , hook out the glass & apply locktite 400 ? (used for making your own custom 'O' rings) or super glue (virtualy the same stuff but cheaper:rolleyes: ) , press the edges of the cut/slash together till they're set (not long 60 secs?), leave for an hour & re-inflate ,seems to work most of the time ;) .On my rainbike i've put tyre liners in , they help too , but they seem to make the bike seem slugish :(

I regularly inspect my tires very closely and usually dig out multiple small bits of glass. Many of these are completely buried underneath the surface of the rubber. Makes me glad I've got Armadillos.

Nodoubt If a person had tires with lots of grip there would be some clearnance
so contact with glass and the tire may not occur

It realy pisses you off when an expensive tyre is rendered useless by glass cuts , I'd make the f/witts who do it, pick up the peices their rectums ,if caught

If you have to deal with a lot of road debris, don't get Hutchinson Carbon Comp's. After 350 miles and 2 flats in a week mine are absolutely shredded. I'm considering a set of Armadillo's, too.
