Shimano "brifters"

I got this off an old guy that collects scrap metal.He was dumpster diving and I took a peek into the back off his pick-up.I found this and offered to buy him a coffee for it.Done.
It's Shimano RSX brifters on Hsing Lung alloy bars w/ML Corp alloy stem.Are they any good?Any idea of their value?I may pass them along.Road bikes aren't my thing.

If they shift ok then they will work with a compatible 7 or 8 speed set up.. traded for a coffee is a good deal
