Your blinkies don't work! Rant
I see most people around town are using blinkies now, a very good thing you would think.
Guess what? If you have it attached to your pants, backpack, mess. bag or in another similar manner, there is a very good chance it isn't working. The don't work when flopped over and pointing down/left 3 feet behind you.
I understand you spent a lot of time stripping parts off that classic ride to clean up it's looks. Adding a tail light mount probably sounds completely ridiculous, but you need a better set-up. A very few people look cool on a bike, but you probably aren't one of them and they'd look cool either way. Using the mount isn't going to drop your style points.
On the same note, why would you mount it solidly to your bike and not aim it? Near 45 degrees up or down is not helping you out. LED's are very directional, you need to aim them AT people. Yours isn't very bright to start with. This one is even more of a forehead slapper than the above.
I swear, between the 2 problems above, less than half the people I see have a proper set-up. Even of those, many are apparently on near dead batteries or the cheapest tiniest thing available. With all this factored in, I think about 10% of the riders I see have anywhere near adequate rear lighting.
That is all (ok, no it isn't. It will do for now). Anyone else want to add on? Is it like this everywhere?

My favorite is the high quality fairly expenive tail light mounted to the seatpost....
and a giant bag on the rear rack completly blocking it.

Lol, I knew I had to have missed at least one version. I am one of the few people with a trunk bag around here, so this is a rare animal for me.

I've always enjoyed seeing people with a red light as their headlight.

Common pitfalls around here:
– Taillight attached to a helmet: the guy moves so much that it's annoying for the few seconds it's actually pointing somewhere useful
– Taillight attached to backpack or clothing: usually pointing to the sky so the birds notice you
And the most frequent one:
– Taillight running with its original batteries. What? Batteries need to be changed? I thought they lasted 5 years!
And a nice one I only saw once: a wrong-way cyclist with a white taillight and a red headlight.
