Hitch Bike Rack Reccomendations Please :)

Hello,

We just bought two Trek Navigator bikes at our soon to be LBS. We are now trying to determine which Hitch bike rack to buy. We have a RAV4 so we will have to use it with an extender. We appreciate any advice or opinions that you share. Thanks

I have an '06 Rav 4 limited... I have a DrawTite Hitch and a Raxxter bike rack (holds two) without an extender and does not touch the spare tire!

I also use this ... helps keep things tight...no wiggle or wobble

My Thule hitch-mount rack let water seep inside, with rust resulting, in places where I cannot readily monitor the extent of the damage. People told me I should not have let the rack get wet. Huh? I live in humid, drizzly, swampy, rainy, thunderstormy SE Texas. FWIW, my Yakima SpareRoc never rusted, but that is long out of production, and not a hitch-mount.

I just bought this Swagman XC Cross-Country last week:

I bought it for $30 more than it's selling for right now, which is frustrating. But you can't go wrong with the price and free shipping, and so far it seems great. My wife's Jeep Liberty has a 5th tire which means if I want to carry the second bike I'll need an extension, though. So you would probably need an extension with this one.

I'm not a big fan of any rack that secures the bike by the top tube. Thule and Saris racks cinch the wheels, which is better IMHO.
