Specialized Date of manufacture?

Specialized Date of manufacture?
I picked up this bike a couple of weeks ago and am trying to find out when it was manufactured. I emailed Specialized bikes and they have yet to get back with me. I'm just trying to get a ballpark. They have changed the frame style on this particular one and I can't seem to find a link to date codes. Any help would be appreciated.

We see a lot of these in the shop I work at. I believe the serial number, which may be of some help, is on the underside of the bottom bracket.

My 86 RockHopper SN starts off 286xxxxx
I don't know if it's coincidence or maybe Feb 86?
IT it has original Shimano components, some of them will have a 2 letter date code.

Thanks, the serial number is under the bottom bracket starts with MOKR, I sent it to specialized and they needed a pic...I guess they recycle the numbers....I don't know. I like Schwinn's date code system. A '91 model thats prolly what mine is to since they change colors every year, thanks again.
