Flood Riding

A flash flood hit us here in the desert a few hours ago. The water is receding most places but there were a few vehicles that were unable to go anywhere due to all the water. It was nice to hop on a bike, ride around, and see where help was needed.

(I don't know if I'm trying to prove a point or anything, but I thought it deserved a post somehow)

Club family youth hostel weekend last year - flooded Yorkshire Dales road - numpty drives past weekend organiser (age 70 and counting), soaking him to waist (water was hub high). 200 yards round corner, road takes a bit of a dip. 70+ comes upon stalled car. Numpty driver opens door. Water higher than door sill (by a foot). Water rushes in. 70+ - "You'd better watch it, the water's deep just here".

Almost cured me of atheism.
