Bicycle Sidecar
Hi everyone,
About a year ago I found a website that sold bicycle sidecars, now I can't find the site. Would you help me find it again. The sidecars were made by a guy that started his buisness by making juice with human power. Later he made a sidecar to move his stand and equipment. Then he started to sell the sidecars and "ready to use" juice business. I remember one of the models of sidecars were used as a movie 'truck' for mounting a movie camera and doing rolling shots. Anyone know this site? Thanks Wayneburg |
Wayneburg,
I am not familiar with the product, but I did a search & found this: http://www.ihpva.org/com/Sidekids/ |
Thanks AlphaGeek,
I saw the same site. Unfortunately it isn't the site I was looking for :( Thanks for trying though. I seem to remember the site feature alot of yellow and the sidecar itself was yellow too. |

That's so funny. My girlfriend wanted me to make a sidecar for my bike that she could pedal so she could sit next to me when I'd ride. I didn't think anyone would actually make one because it would be so wide.

http://www.blackbirdbikes.com/quadribent_steel.htm Believe me, if you can think it, somebody probably makes it. :) Here's a homebuilt: |

http://fun2bike.com/ We have one at the Cleveland bike co-op. It's fun to ride as long as both riders have similar mass. It gets a bit wonky if one is much lighter than the other. Difficult, but possible, to ride alone. Enjoy |
Do you mean Nate Byerley of juice peddler fame? The blender site is here but I couldn't find anything on sidecars.

While cool. I think a sidecar on a bicycle is a big mistake. An accident waiting to happen.

This thread is 4 years old and was resurrected by the www.bikesidecars.com guy. At least put some info on your site before directing us to it!
On the original question, they have "sociable tandems" and several diffrent side-by-side trikes. The drawback to a true sidecar for carrying people is that it's only set up for one person to pedal, the other is just dead weight to tote around. Okay for motorcycles, not so hot for bicycles. |
Good catch Stephen. I need to make better note of the dates of posts. What makes matters worse is a spammer resurrected it.

Glad someone is more alert than me.

sidecars??
Hey I was on google looking for a bicycle sidecar and saw this post but the site says its closed for updates. Does anybody know where I can buy one? Not looking for the one for kids, looking for one that adults can also ride in. I had one when I worked overseas and it was the coolest thing, unfortunately I couldnt bring it back to the states due to shipping expense

Hmm... "They" is now "We"

Dan, got any pictures?
I've seen a couple of homemade things. I've seen foreign pedicab attachments built onto a bicycle. They show up every once in a while on Craigslist or Ebay. |

The March 2009 shows a BF member with a sidecar and trailer attached to a bicycle. She gave up her Mom mobile for a bicycle, and has been car free for a while.

Yep, still a one car family, but I do find that doing the commute with both kids twice a day is just too much. Dh and I are about 70/30 on the car and I ride most of the rest of the time, probably a total of about 8 hours a week. The kids are heavy! What am I feeding them???
We get a lot of attention on the street and I feel much safer with the sidecar than with the trailer alone. We are a wider load and so just stick our butts right out there in the lane and people go around. The only time I've felt unsafe was when someone pulled up alongside me to chastise me for toting the kids that way. SHE made it unsafe! The sidecar is extremely stable. If I fall off the bike (which doesn't really happen anymore now that I've got my eggbeaters down) both the trailer and the sidecar stay upright. Knock wood in the future!
