Bike Anime
I watch Anime, and then I found this! An anime called Over Drive, heres some info
Tour de France – it is the biggest bicycle race in the world. Now, a new achievement is about to be recorded in the history of Tour de France. The top racer is a Japanese boy named Shinozaki Mikoto.
"Why don't you join our bicycle club?" said Fukazawa, Shinozaki Mikoto's secret love.
Unfortunately, despite being a high school student, he doesn't know how to ride a bike. With no real idea of what the bicycle club is, he earnestly practices. After he overcomes this challenge, while he pedals along, something that was smoldering in his mind for 15 years ignites.
"I want to devote myself to bike riding."
Experiencing failure with his friends and rivals, he pedals towards becoming the top racer.

Seen it. I think I posted a fan-sub link to it last year.
As animes go it is so-so. Overall graphic quality is low average. Too much panning across stills. Mediocre background work. Some of the cycling sequences are pretty good as action scenes. Good closeups of the gears working.
Characters were mostly not that interesting, and the main character Shinozaki made me cringe several times.
My big problem was with the premise of the story. Shinozaki, a high school kid who has never ridden a bike before is recruited to join the school cycling club, and after just a month of riding he does a 100 miles race against pros and goes head to head with the race favorite in a sprint....come on! At least they didn't have the kid winning the race.
The race that takes up the last half of the series just doesn't feel like a plausible race. And I think they could have had the back-story scenes earlier in the series instead of splitting up the race scenes.
But it's about cycling, so I enjoyed it.

Over Drive isn't that old. Anime came out middle of last year, don't know about the manga.
There is another cycling (but not racing) anime from the mid 90's called "Golden Boy". Animation quality is generally better than Over Drive but it's more of a hentai adventure (drugs and sex) than a sports anime.
Not that I'd know anything about that sort of thing.

Sport anime is just... scary. Initial D was interesting enough, but that's about it..
However I should get around to finishing Golden Boy, that was a good anime..

Animated, but not anime.
Most of the sports anime are

.
Prince of Tennis is still popular but I don't know why.
I liked Bamboo Blades from last year, but I used to do fencing and kendo.
And Shion-no-O was really a murder mystery who-done-it.
I've only seen a couple of the Golden Boy episodes. Maybe it's time to Netflix the rest.
