Compact crank rocks!
As posted before, I was really frustrated with my Cannondale I bought some years ago. Simply could not ride the thing because it was to darn difficult! I thought I was weak or just severely out of shape. Anyway, the bike ended up a dust collector in the garage.
Spent a coupla hundred on a 34/50 SRAM and....oh what a difference! I'm a noob rider and just could not tolerate the hills in my area. Changing the crank turned it into a new bike! My enthusiasm is coming back and now I feel I can set realistic goals for comfortable riding.
My goal is to be ready for a century by next spring.
I think I can

Thanks for the update, we don't always find out how it works out for people who ask for advice here.

Bike ≠ Car ≠ Ped.

Thank God you like the new crank, otherwise I'd feel pretty stupid myself.

Upshift and ride faster. That way the hills don't last as long.
You'll be hurtin' afterwards, but pain is only temporary...
