Saw Something Funny Today...

A car is stopped at a red light. Two cyclists roll up, both on the passenger side. Instead of putting a foot down, they decide it`s much more convenient to lean against the car by resting their hands on the roof. Driver asks that they not do this. They don`t listen. Driver jumps forward, cyclists tumble over. Two clipped in idiots squirming on the ground. Beautiful.

The dust clears. One cyclist calls a cop. Cop shows up, gives enraged cyclist a`well, what were you thinking?` speech. He also tells the driver what she did wasn`t exactly safe. No tickets are issued. The driver leaves on her way. The cyclists get back on ther bikes, cursing the unfairness of it all.

Smart cyclists would have leaned on each other.

Kinda mean
but also pretty rude to lean on someones car.
and more importantly, pretty darn stupid to lean on something that might potentially move out from under you.
I mean, even if the driver didn't decide to play a trick, what did they expect was going to happen when the light went green and the car blasted out of the intersection from under them?(typical rush hour behaviour, yes?)

I wish. It was quite the funny scene. The driver was out of her car and on the phone before either of the cyclists had unclipped. They looked like two fish flopping around on the bottom of a boat. Hilarious.

I'd have bought a ticket to see that! Better than the Fiat commercial floating around on youtube!

It doesn't matter if there's any 'harm' done by just putting a balancing hand on someone's car -- IT'S SOMEONE ELSE'S PROPERTY! HELLO...RESPECT?!?!

It sounds like they were warned and allowed their arrogance to override the common sense and decency.

I went on a group ride once and one of the guys on the ride leaned on the car at a stoplight. The driver didn't say anything, but several other riders told the guy not to do that. The guy tried to justify it by saying "What? I wasn't going to damage the car, I was just touching it!" Then we all started to scold him until he finally unclipped and took his hand off the car. For the next mile or so, several riders told him in no uncertain terms, "If you want to ride like a jerk, find another group." He never showed up again.

What a tool, that guy. Glad you all gave him a bunch of grief.

I've seen that happen. But the person had good handling and was able to stay upright, though almost sideswiping his riding partners.

Yeah.. Here in US a person's car is an extension of their person It's the same reason you don't see two cyclists leaning on one another.. It's an invasion of space. Now if I were cycling and came a cross a female Cyclist that looked like Laura Prepon I might be inclined to let her lean on me..

The icing on the cake would have been a third rider stopping there in a track stand calmly watching the whole event unfold around him.

Good story, but I have my doubts that it really happened. My guess is that it is either fiction or was at least embellished quite a bit. Bit of a long shot that you were in a position to observe all that including what was said and all and were still around when the cop came and heard what he said too.

Fair enough. Not trying to convince anyone. There are no prizes for `most believable story.` Anyone here from San Diego? I was sitting outside the Starbucks at the corner of Lake Murry Blvd. and the back entrance to the Lake Murray parking lot. It was a rare sight. Cheers.

It seemed pretty hard to swallow so I said so, still... I probably should have kept my mouth shut.

Either way it was entertaining.
