Sizing Help!! I'm 6'1" 32.5"-33" inseam (Gary Fisher, 19" or 21")

I am purchasing a 2009 Gary Fisher Wingra bike & I'm not sure what size I should go with...I tried both the Lg (19") & the XL (21") at the LBS & I felt like I might be in between sizes. The salesmen seemed to think that the 21" fit me better (which they didn't have a wingra 21" in stock, i just tired another Gary Fisher bike). He basically said that if I stand over the bike & lift it up to my crotch, then I should have about a 1" clearance from the ground. This was the case w/ the 21". I test rode the 19" & I had probably like 2-3" clearance from the ground when I lifted the bike up to my crotch. Either way, I still felt like I was in between sizes on this bike, so which size would you recommend I go with?

19" Lg
or
21" XL

again, I'm 6'1" ish w/ a 32.5"-33" inseam.

This seems like the type of thing that you should be discussing with the LBS before you buy the bike.

Personally I'd go with the 21" but YMMV.

PS: using lots of exclaimation points and caps in thread titles is e-shouting and it's considered rude.

I'm your size (6'1" with about 33+" inseam), and I'd choose the larger frame size. It's a commuter bike so frame clearance isn't as critical as with a mountain bike that's going to be taken off-road.

I have a Gary Fisher Paragon (I think it's a 2000 model) with a 19" frame. It is a hardtail mountain bike so the geometry and riding position are different from the Wingra... I've commuted with it and done up to 70-mile rides on it. I feel kinda 'bunched up' after a few miles - can't get stretched out like on my two road bikes. Not uncomfortable, but not ideal. I eventually added Ergon grips to deal with pressure on my hands

If you're going to ride any great distance I think the 21"'s a better choice.

Hope that helps.
