Great pictures and interesting information about the Ride the Rockies ride! Nothing quite that scenic around here. 
Nice looking bikes too.
I clicked on the Denver link and saw someone eating a HUGE bowl of ice-cream(?). Was that you?? How far did you have to ride to burn up all those calories?

You know you could do a nice cross-country tour: San Diego, Arizona, Denver, Kansas City, Chicago, New Orleans, Atlanta, D.C., Pennsylvania, NY, Boston, Maine. We'd all put you up Chris. Spring or Fall and you could ride in perfect temperatures. Keep it in mind.

All that ochre coloured landscapes, around here its every shade of green

Over 100 shades in the BS!
Here in Geneva we have a nice view of the Jura with snow on top and in certain areas we can see the Mont Blanc. After 19 years it's becoming boring, I rather miss the green and rain of Ireland!
Faraway hills are white at this time of the year.

Yes, one of the most difficult things folks moving from other, more green, parts of the USA or other countries is the adjustment to the lack of trees and green.
I grew up in and around the desert and southwest and abosolutely love the wide open spaces seen in the Santa Fe pictures.
Some folks also find that the mountains that we have - 14,000+ feet, craggy high cliffs, deep valleys, etc., are quite scary and foreboding. They really get fearful (and of course, they are right in a sense - we have many injuries and deaths winter and summer from avalanches, rock climbers, lost hikers and sometimes attacks by animals) of the mountains. I also grew uo in the mtns, and love them and feel comfortable in them. But, not all folks do!!
I am in the mtns right now. Did a little snow hiking yesterday, and hope to do some cross country skiing and snowshoeing today and tomorrow.
