I'm riding a Giant Sedona DX on the road. Occasional side trips on fire trails. Been looking longingly at road bikes.

P.S. Mashimaro - for as much riding that I am doing, and the centuries that are coming up, it is worth every penny - cause it rides like a dream~ plus, it is classic and beautifully and carefully welded.

anastasia,
yes..i believe you, custom bikes are beautiful! Did you custom your 7? or did you go w/ their geometry? I wish i could buy one of those (or even a litespeed or merlin), but i can't afford one after dumping almost 3G's on my Norco. your bike is a lifetime investment, that's for sure. nothing comes close in attention to details and the beautiful welds (i've had coffee w/ a guy who owned one as well, and just drooled over the detail on his machine). You've got excellent taste girl! ride that magic carpet!

In my stable:
1980? Raleigh Tourist--classic black with steel rod-activated brakes that don't work well under normal conditions and don't work AT ALL in the rain.
1979 Nishiki Superb, about to fix up with wider 42cm bar, new tape and brake hoods. Ever try to buy a simple pair of brake hoods? Not off the rack any more.
1985 Trek 700 touring bike, my workhorse (rack, lights, bags, bell, etc.)
2000 Trek 320 Road Series--bottom of road line, steel, heavy, great bike.
2002 Fuji Roubaix-Pro--just bought it, have ridden it enough to know it's great.

Mashimaro-
I kinda had to go custom. I am height challenged. Plus, i figured if I was going to plop down all that money (either way), I might as well go custom.

Obviously I still don't have the hang of sending pictures.
Help, somebody!
Condor
OK, there's an "IMG" button at the top of the reply screen.
Then there's the "Browse" function at the bottom.
I can't seem to get either one to work. The image I want to send is on my iMac desktop. It's not on a web site. I don't have a web site. Do I need one to send a picture?
Thanks

OK, my first post. Here is my beloved bike. It is a 1999 Trek 1000. Very bright in lovely yellow. The more recent models have gone much more subdued - USPS colours and even more conservative than that for this year's model.
This is my first road bike - if you don't count my school days and realy cheap and nasty that I kept breaking.

I never knew until this moment that they put amber wheel reflectors on Australian bikes! In the US, they're white.
There are three levels of wheel reflector use among US cyclists:
1) Leave 'em on because it never occured to you to do otherwise.
2) Take'em off because they weigh several grams and unbalance the wheel.
3) Don't just leave 'em on, but add more. Add reflectors all over the bike. And on your clothes and your shoes and your helmet and your panniers. Because you're a real cyclist: you're a commuter!

UPDATE
The KHS is history it did not stand up too well to being squeezed between the back of my car and another. The thule bike rack however did survive. Therefore I now have a Trek 7300 hybrid and my wife has a H400 Cannondale hybrid. We are defintley helping out our local LBS this year.
I am really glad that my Cannondale was not in the rack that fatefull day.
