700x32 with front suspension?
 

I currently ride an '07 Novara Forza, which came with 700x35 tires. This bike also has a front suspension that can lock out, although not as squishy as most mountain bike forks. I'm thinking about switching to 700x32 when it's time to replace the tires, but I don't know if it would be wise to do so with the front suspension unlocked. Will this cause too much stress on the tire or rim?

Oh, I ask because I haven't seen any bike that comes with this setup.

Should not be a problem. I had the same on my Trek 7300, but I started running 23's to 28's. I finally ditched the suspension fork and got a rigid and stuck with the 700-28's, it rides so much better.

What exactly do you hope to accomplish by going ~3mm less wide?

Not much, but a friend is about to give me a new pair if I wanted it. Or he'd just sell it on CL.

I've been riding Specialized CX-Pro's, 700x32. Very nice tire, flat center section with side lugs for soft ground. Fast enough on the road and some off-road capability too.
