Being a type 1 diabetic for 34 years has taught me a few things. If I don't ride for 2 or more days my insulin requirement goes up. Since I have been riding my food intake has gone up but my insulin usage has dropped a little. If I don't ride on the 3rd day I can tell my blood sugars are a little higher than normal and I will use more insulin. Being on an insulin pump this is not a problem. I try to ride at least every other day. Yes I do get anxious if I don't ride.

Count me in with the majority. If I sit around the house all day without any goals or activity, I become a lethargic bsastard.

i don't know about a day or two... but for a week, yeah.

i can't hit the trails everyday - it wears me down too much. i can only be shredded so many times per week!

I was thinking about this question today. I hadn't been on a good, solid ride for about 4 days. I just did some casual riding in between--no more than 5-6 miles; my legs don't even get in the groove at those lengths.

But today, after 4 days of not keeping up my normal 19-20 miles 5 days a week, I had the best ride I've ever had. Went 25 miles, 18.4 mph average--on my Hybrid, no less (which is soon to be replaced). It felt good. I was cruising the whole way.

Is 18.4 mph with stops and traffic? I dont feel that slow on group rides but I do about 13.8 miles in just dead on one hour every day I commute. I ride a road bike with a little extra weight, but cant seem to go much faster.
