7.2FX on trails?

I just bought a Trek 7.2fx, so far I love it on the road....
A few buddies of mine invited me to go on some trails (nothing crazy, just some dirt trails with minimal rocks). Can I take my 7.2 or should I not even bother?

Anyone? I'm under the impression that with the all-purpose tires, I should be okay, but don't want to damage the bike.

Can't really say. Some trails are more off roadie than others. There are lots and lots of crushed limestone rails-to-trails - your 7.2FX will thrive on them. Real rock garden mountain biking trails - not so much.

Stay away from anything that will make you get air and ride light over the rocks and roots and it should be fine. If you get the urge to start riding hard, get a tougher bike. Just peddling around the woods at a casual pace should be fine. I occasionally take my no name ebay special track bike out on some of the easy mountain bike trails here, and haven't broken it yet, just ride with a little bit of sense.

Put some 'cross tires on and have a blast. My 'cross bike came with these. I've heard they actually measure out to 28mm. I've ridden through hard-packed dirt, soft dirt, mud, sand, etc. with them. Not really intended for mud or sand, but I was having fun, so I could care less.
