Never ridden, "brand new" 2001 ba with full 105 groupo in lbs. He is asking $999.00. rode it loved it but not ready to spend 1000.00 bucks on a 3 year old bike. Ok, I'm cheap... Anyway, asked the manager if I could get a break on the price.. He came back with 900 bucks and mumbled something about that was at dealer cost...Owner wasn't in the shop and won't be back until next week. So, I'm thinking that $750.00 is a good price and I'll buy a new seat, pedals and shoes from him and he'll make up some of his money that way.

I would like to know if that is a fair offer or should I offer less??? Secondly, there is currently a 2002 ba with ULTEGRA GROUPO on Ebay that from the pictures looks as new in condition and has a buy now sticker of $900.00 but with 4 days left has 546.00 bid on it.

look forward to some opinions on price/worth of this bike prior to going back to make a deal.

Appreciate any input or advice...

Not sure why you'd think a shop would sell the bike for less than they paid for it but it may be worth a try. As for it being 3 years old, it's possible they received it at the end (or even later) of the model year and it's been sitting in a box for quite some time - meaning, unless it's been on the floor and subjected to multiple test rides for 2+ years, then it should be considered "as new." Also, go to roadbikereview.com and do a search for the '01 Lemond BA - check it out - $900 seems like a very fair price for a bike as well respected as this.

Thanks 55/Rad.. I have heard some good things about this bike and my gut feeling is that I really like it! I just am not too savvy on how much a bike depreciates etc... My rationale for them selling for less was that I thought that it had been sitting on their floor for 3 yrs and that they would want to unload it. Obviously I'm going to try and get the best deal I can but after reading your take on it, I can see why the price is where it is..

Thanks again!
