what is it worth?

my neighbor is selling her trek 7100 to get a road bike.....

It’s a 2008 model 17.5 inch bike (blue and silver) with 400 total miles; I can verify that with my computer.

So what do you think it is worth?

Get a road bike like she gets.

Put it on eBay with a reserve of list price. Obviously, it won't sell, but the highest bid you get is what it is worth.

My guess is less than $200. Just looked at two completed auctions on ebay and one ended at 172.50 the other 163.25, same bike, neither sold as reserve was higher.

i think her feelings are hurt, for selling that low so soon after she purchased it....she is gonna keep it or the rain days.

Local Craig's List had a men's Trek 7500 in good shape a little older for ~$300. Saw it on there again a month later listed at $200.

Since the consensus seems to be relatively low at <$200, why not consider keeping it as a 'beater' bike? Ie, good for some light trail or rainy day workouts, trips to the beach etc. If the roadie's in for maintenance, she's still good-to-go.

And what roadie doesn't have at least two bikes? ;)

I totally agree. She is going to keep it for rainy days.....at the very least keep it to ride on some of the nonpaved walking trails AND when ever it rains.
