Removing OnGuard U-Lock Mounting Bracket
 

I recently bought an OnGuard Bulldog mini, and because I have 2 bikes I want to be able to remove the mounting bracket from the frame of one so I can transport the lock on my other bike. Does anyone know if the mounting bracket can be removed without cutting the strap?

Sure, in fact I removed the bracket a few times trying to find a non-awkward mount location on my frame before outright throwing the bracket away.
Just stick an allen wrench into the strap locking cylinder and twist Hard backwards.
I wouldn't reccomend this for daily transfer between frames though, since you're going to be wearing down the ratcheting teeth on that bracket each time...

In fact, just throw away the bracket, its heavy and gets in the way and is ridiculously over-engineered for what ought to be a simple plastic strap and bolt. Keep your U-Lock stuck in your rack.

Just carry the lock in your back pocket, in between your belt and pants or in your bag. There really is no need for bike lock mounts on your frame.

You shouldn't remove the strap version of the mounting bracket as wear out the teeth. You can try to find an older bulldog lock that has mount that use bolts or order a second mount from OnGuard.
