The man that says "I can" and the man that says "I cannot" are both correct.

This one is a universal classic, spanning through the generations. It should remind many of us of our mothers who at some point must've said it in some form or another, at least once... and yet, mountain bikers never did listen to their mamas...

"If all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you jump off too?!"

"After 60-70 miles on a bike, it is all mental and not on your legs". Passed on by a guy on mile 60 of my first century after being off the bike for a decade. May I not he was 140 Lb or so, doing 22 MPH at that moment, no a drop of sweat, and hands off the bars while eating some rice crispie treats!!!

Others:
"That's not a reason. It is an excuse"
"What you say is I can't, but what you mean is I am too freaking lazy to try hard enough"
"Success is a state of mind, not an achievement"

Finally, read my signature!

I've always questioned that one.... I figured you'd be more likely to get monkeys if you paid bananas rather than peanuts. I'm sure you'd be more likely to get squirrels rather than monkeys if you pay peanuts.

Those words of support when looking for something... "It's always in the last place you look."

Well, yeah, of course it is, that's because as soon as you find it you stop looking.

"How hard can it possibly be?"

typically heard prior to a march of death epic, ultra difficult to clean feature, etc.
