My wife tells me I'm a bike geek...

-- because I wear my ankle strap for most of the day, even when I'm not riding the bike
-- most of my pants have permanent grease and oil stains on them
-- I wear my Carradice bike cape to walk the dog

Any other markers of bike geekdom?

love it! i wear a reflective band on my jacket's left arm sleeve *everywhere* -- at first i was too lazy to unvelcro it, but now i do it just for kicks; my wife laughs at my "accessorizing." accessorizing?! i tell her: this is safety in action!

i also wear my winter tights around the house, but mostly because i plan to go back out in an hour or so, and i'm too lazy to keep changing.

You obviously don't have teenagers in the house, because they would never let you get away with that.

In the movie: "The Wrestler" the lead character wears duct tape on both wrists of his winter coat. It almost looks like reflective wear. He's just too poor to buy himself decent clothes even though he spends $400. on supplements and steroids.

I wear cycling socks most of the time. The black ones with the silver bicycle chains get worn to church.

I wear biking clothes like Fox and Animal when I’m not riding sometimes, so I guess I could be in the group.

I think it was with a deep tone of ambivalence...

An intervention might help. Invite 6 or 8 of your kitted up bike geek friends to come over. Get them to sit in a circle with your wife in the middle. Then take turns convincing her that she's the one who dresses funny.

The other day I still had my bike shorts on after a ride. I went out to get some firewood, and to save time, put on my wife's sweater. I slipped penny loafers on my feet and had on a wool hat. This is when my new neighbor drove by.

... a basement of abandoned bikes that need parts and service ... how do I stop these from magnetically sticking to my car as I drive down the street?

I started buying only black trousers to deal with the black chain marks on trousers.

Someone should market pants with black "chain ring tattoo" patterns all over them. It could be the new paisley.

Looking at your closet and dressers and having more drawers filled with bike stuff than street clothes.

When my 12 year-old is giving me grief, I threaten to pick her up at school wearing my bike shorts - that ALWAYS gets her to back off.
