Which is (of course) entirely true.

Over 50% of smokers do not get to pension age due to smoking related deaths.

The tobacco companies have had definitive proof of how lethal tobacco is.....for how long ? 60 - 70 years ?

Pro-smoking nazis? Holy don't have a clue, chicken little man!
Isn't it time for your tea...or perhaps a nice prozac now?

Still waiting on you to post that evidence that smoking WILL, beyond a doubt, cause bad things to happen to EVERYONE who tries it. Until you can do that, you have been thoroughly discredited on this subject, no matter how much smoke (pun intended) you exhale upon our air.

If it's true, I'm sure you can post cites to support your claim that my past smoking 'guarantees' a shorter life expectancy. We're waiting, chicken little. Did you go to the George Bush school of 'fear mongering for political hacks'?

Ah, I was merely quoting areacode312 - best you go attack him.

For anyone to be discreditted would require you providing proof to back your claim.

There's a wealth of evidence out there and I don't think any of it lies in your favour.

I've not made the silly claim, white boy, you have...and the fact that you have, for the upteenth time, failed to respond with some factual support for your silliness is why you are discredited. If there is so much evidence out there that smoking is GUARANTEED to hurt me, I'm sure it should be easy enough for your to provide a cite. But you don't, because you are full of fish-n-chips. Nice try though...sorry, we don't have any consolation prizes for you. How about a nice pipe to smoke?

When my oldest child decided to take up this nasty habit I wanted to express my opinion to him without being overbearing or alienating him. I prepared this little document and left it on his bed. My only comment later was "never in my house, on my property, or in the car that I let you drive." He is away at college now and I can tell he still smokes some, but he knows where I stand. He is an adult in the eyes of the law and can buy tobacco legally.

Feel free to download and share this with anyone you care about.

Our youngest just turned 18. We don't let him smoke in the house, even though him Mom still does. I tell him if he's willing to buy the house and pay all the bills, I'd be happy to let him smoke in HIS house.
Life ain't fair, shucky darn.

Yep, fear is a motivator. But, this type cancer can be avoided largely by not taking part in this "activity".

Hmmmm...seem to remember some rather graphic pictures when I was 16 and in a drivers education class...

Oh well. Just expressing my opinion. Not pushing it off on anyone else. I lean a bit Libertarian and believe each must decide for himself.

Ok, chipcom - I think that's enough of the public insults.

I'm respectfully asking you again - do not call me 'white boy' or 'chicken little' or any other stupid insulting name you dream up.

If you consider this to be a discussion, the proceed in an adult manner.

I don't have to "provide a cite" for anything.

If you choose ignore evidence of cause and effect that is your choice.

It's entirely pointless, your point of view precludes any intelligent discussion.

For example - prove to me that the sun will rise tomorrow.

It isn't possible to prove anything to someone who has deliberately chosen to believe something through personal choice, regardless of any available information.

you have, for the upteenth time, failed to respond with some factual support for your silliness is why you are discredited.
I have 'failed to respond' because for the reasons above, it is pointless.

I have not been discredited, I have declined to defend myself from your personal insulting attacks.

You however have discredited yourself as you have been unable to 'make your case' without resorting to personal insults and ridicule.

I am not insulting you, you are making yourself look ridiculous.

Respectfully, I am asking you again to stop attacking me.

Respectfully, I am asking you again to stop insulting me.

Thank you.

Respect is earned. Making silly claims then masking your inability to back them, up when asked repeatedly to do so, with crocodile tears of hurt feelings doesn't earn my respect, only my pity.
Despite the fact that it is YOU who have repeatedly insulted the intelligence of those reading this thread, it is still within your power to gain some respect. But I'm not holding my breath, because we both know your claims were downright silly.

How about we recap some of your ever so mannerly behavior in this thread (especially towards NightShade) before I ever put my foot down and started giving you a taste of your own medicine, shall we?

Gee, where have I heard that before ?

Isn't that every smokers excuse, that they smoke because they want to ?

I can't believe such dumb sh1t.

Yeah....that's right, of course that's why.

Note: the dipping tobacco guy never inhaled tobacco and thought he was fit after 30 years of it.

You are a fool and you are fooling yourself. Please don't spread your toxic doctrine to others.

You believe what you choose to believe because it suits you and enables you to carry on doing what you enjoy (a pipe will give you peace that is impossible to discribe to the non-smoker) regardless of facts.

Oh yes, to be fair, I remember my father saying something very similar not long before tobacco killed him.

What was it ?

He had just visited his doctor and was 'As fit as a fiddle'.

Does that seem familiar to you Nightshade ?

Does it ?

I rest my case.

Your claims are far more silly than mine, the difference is I can see it's not worth pursuing an argument that neither can win.

Respect is a two way street, how much have you earned ?

I respectfully request that you either keep a civil tongue and just allow me to use the forum without constant harrassment and personal insults.

Thank you.

Ahh, more dishonesty. Funny how you don't even mention your own rudeness and insults in this thread (just a portion of which I quoted above, yet you conveniently ignored in your reply) that prompted my giving you a dose of your own medicine. How about you worry about apologizing to those you insulted before crying those crocodile tears? You began the insult parade, Mr. Good Manners, I am merely treating you with the same respect you have shown to others. You'll get no respect, quarter or free pass for not backing up your wacky claims from me unless you man up and apologize to all those, especially Night Shade, that you insulted and treated with less than the respect you feel you deserve. You have no case.

Your move, Mr. Kettle.

Exactly my point.

You are free to (and will) ignore any evidence whatsoever that tobacco is harmful.

The absurdity of refering to 'tobacco is harmful' as a wacky claim simply can't be countered.

As I said before - prove the sun will rise tomorrow.

You choose a personal belief over fact and reality - and that is your choice.

I'm not arguing it or trying to convince you otherwise

Do you really think anyone on the forum wants to read this endless garbage ?
