Brooks Swallow and handlebar height
 

I want a new saddle and am considering the Brooks Swallow. I've read that this saddle is best for people with aggressive tendencies, i.e. handlebar height is significantly below saddle height. I am planning to use this saddle on my mountain bike and my handlebars are level with my saddle. However, I do have very narrow sit bones.

Do you think my narrow sit bones would work well with the Swallow with my handlebars at this height, or are the width of my sit bones irrelevant in this case?

What, no one has any thoughts? With all the Brook threads here I am surprised that no one has replied.

I think it'll work fine. I have a Swift that I think is just a bit too narrow for me even with a sorta-aggressive road bike position. But, I've surely got wider sit bones than you anyway.

My concerns about using a Brooks MTB'ing would be catching your shorts on the edge of the leather when getting on and off the saddle and, maybe, having it dig into your shoulder if you carry the bike with the saddle on your shoulder.

Well, if the ask-er is a she, and it's a nice enough one, I could stop drooling long enough to formulate some kind of answer...

Swallow sure isn't a good choice for this, but if you insist, you won't know until you try it.

You have to take this sit bone measuring stuff with a grain of salt. The width gets wider as you sit more upright.

You must have more willpower than me.

Or less saliva.
