I wear regular rx glasses. Bi-focals that I hate with a passion, but the doc says I need them . If it helps, the frames are titanium and the lenses are polycarbonate

i will only ever ride bikes with drops, i even have drops on my MTB. there are many hand positions for diffrent riding. im more of an intense rider, 22, and long and gangly. so have my drops about 20cm below my saddle. an intense riding style means theres little pressure on my sit bones and arms as im mainly being supported by my legs. a lower bar is more comfortable for this style of riding and my personal physioligy.
if i was touring and riding slower i would definatly choose a higher bar setup.
hands by the stem with index figers crossed over the stem- cruising along flat, chilling out
tops- climbing, cruising
hoods- main position, riding out of the saddle, best comprimise between comfort, aero, brakes
curves of drops- in the saddle fast riding, downhill for max aero
flats of drops- out of the saddle sprinting, offers the best leverage/aero out of the saddle

I was using drops for a while but then it dawned on me that my tops are already 14cm below the saddle, and i hardly ever used the drop portion (except in very strong headwind), so i switched to bullhorns.

Even the pros don't ride in the drops all the time or even most of the time. They use the flats or the hoods like everybody else, saving the drops for windy conditions, sprinting.

What are drops for? If you want an aggressive position, don't put the drops 14 cm below the saddle. Instead, put them 7-8 cm below the saddle. Then, you will either be able to ride on the drops at 15 cm below the saddle or on the tops at 7 cm below the saddle.
