henryjames.com has a list of custom steel builders who use their lugs. It has lots of smaller, local frame-builders and workshops.
My fav US builder has to be Columbine or Bohemian. These are both rideable works of art.

Cervelo is Canada.

I was under the impression that surlys were actually made overseas. Taiwan, maybe?

As both of those builders are in Canada, I would guess 'North America but not the USA'

I imagine that Diesel was referring to the fact that Richard Schwinn is a significant part of the ownership group at Waterford.
Also, as has been said, all CDale frames are made in the USA.

I believe the production rivendell frames are made in Japan (Toyo frame shop), not the USA. However their custom frames are fabricated in the USA.

I noticed the Classic Rendezvous site lists Olympia's Bill Stevenson. To bad they don't have any pictures of his work up yet. I have seen his bikes & they are tops.

Wow... two mentions so far for Aegis! I'm happy to see they're getting some recognition. I know there are a small handful of Aegis riders on BF. :)

I'm a new user, but I felt I had to brag. Just bought a worksman & am very impressed with the quality. Also, they do custom work for very little money.

When I said Schwinn family, I mean people with the last name of Schwinn. Understand English and what your talking about before shooting your mouth off and through your foot.

It's all good to look for american made frames but half of the major components on the bike will be foreign made.

zonatandem 07-01-04 09:52 PM

Add to your list some fine bikes made in Eugene, OR
Co-Motion
Burley
Bike Friday
Hampsten

From Arizona:
ariZona (carbon fiber, custom only)
Gilmour (custom)
Bohemian (custom)
Le Colin (custom)

Believe Kona is a Canadian outfit, bikes made offshore somewhere.

Aegis and Titus for me. Best stock frame builders for small riders.

Eddy Merckx Majestic titanium made by Litespeed in the U S of A. At least that's what the label on the base of the seat tube says. I think its great to be able to buy American. It's somewhat worrisome to me the # of products coming out of the the far east & the new world industrial power "China". If you think gas prices are high now just wait a few years when the 3 billion Chinese start buying cars.
Sorry about that, I'll get off the soap box now.
