I ordered some tires on-line back on the 31st. They aren't going to be delivered until the 9th. Are they gonna roll 'em here with a stick? :notamused: I've ordered a ton of motorcycle parts on-line; order on a Monday or Tuesday and it's at my door that Thursday or Friday. Is this 'normal' or am I spoilt?

Depends on where they're coming from. Coast to coast via standard ground sounds fair.

shipping from anywhere to Reno, where I live, runs two to 10 days, in my experience. It's more likely to be a delay on the provider's end than on the trucks--UPS isn't going to treat motorcycle parts any differently than bicycle supplies, but some suppliers can take three or four days to package things up (when I order from Rivendell, about 225 miles away in California, the stuff usually arrives the next day. They pack and ship as they take the order).
FWIW, you could have gone to a bike shop and walked out with the tires the same day, and saved shipping besides.

Frankly, I suspect that Nashbar deliberately "holds" orders for a few days to encourage you to pay the extra money for priority shipping. I don't know that for sure but that's what I think.

Check the zone chart from UPS on how many days travel it is from the place you ordered/shipped from. UPS is pretty efficient. For instance - when I order from Harris Cyclery in Newton (Eastern), Mass. for delivery to my outpost in Northern Vermont, the UPS truck will arrive the next afternoon with my gear. Without fail, as Harris ships same-day.

If I am ordering from California or Oregon etc - I generally select a two or three day UPS delivery. This usually doesn't cost all that much more. And most sellers offer these options for shipping on their website.

Shouldn't you take this up with your delivery company ... not us?

Unless they were backordered, it sounds like you selected the Pony Express economy option during checkout...

I get the impression that most Mom & Pop stores fill orders when they get staff, so it takes a few days.
