Spare tire mounted bike rack (Tracker, Jeep, FJ, etc)?

tried to ask this in Road Cycling first since it seems to have the most traffic, but no one answered.

I have a '01 Chevy Tracker, 2 door convertible with the spare tire mounted on the back gate, same as a Jeep. Alas, it looks like it precludes use of a hitch rack unless it's removed, which I don't want to do if possible.

I was able to buy a Bell 2 bike hitch rack for $69 at Walmart, but as mentioned above, I'll either have to remove the spare tire and put it elsewhere or, locate/fashion some kind of extension for the 1.25" trailer hitch receiver which would extend the rack out beyond the spare tire.

I don't have a lot of money for a fancy Saris 2 bones, although they seem very nice.

Due in part to the hazardous roads right outside my neighborhood and some of the MUP trailheads being a ways off, I really need a rack.

I'd just bungee the bike to the spare tire, but....that's a little insecure

Any Jeep, Toyota FJ owners here know of a suggestion? Surely someone knows, there's quite a few Trackers on the road and a lot more Jeeps, methinks the odds of one having a bike rack or three is pretty fair.

Thanks!

Tom

Just donated the one off my old Samurai (sold 10 years ago) to the Salvation Army or I'd send it to you for the cost of shipping. I think it was a Graber, a cheap brand I wouldn't normally recommend, but it came with the car and worked for 75,000 miles.
Keep an eye on the way the tire and carrier attach to the truck the first few times you use the rack. I never had any problem, but I've seen two tire mounts break off in off-road use. A bike's never the same after it tumbles down the road with a spare tire attached to it.

Wow, the notorious BF search actually worked this time! I was going to start a new thread about getting either a hitch or tire mounted rack, but apparently one can't use a hitch rack with the tire mounted? Maybe technology has improved the designs the last couple of years? Off to search the interwebz...
