Helmet Q.

How bad would it be to cut 3-5 mm out of the notch in the pictured helmet that is apparently there solely to jab me in the forehead?

That helmet was painstakingly engineered by a team of marketers to give you a false sense of security that the helmet will save your life in any and all situations.

If you cut that section off, you may compromise the integrity of the helmet in a case of a crash.

Probably not a huge deal, but it makes me wonder if the helmet is the correct size for you.

It seems to fit really well, but for some reason that little nub irritates me.

No one is that gullible.

What model helmet is that? something looks wrong, is it possible to get a picture showing the whole thing?

JanMM 04-21-09 03:21 PM

A picture of the helmet on the head would be helpful.

+3. Based on the way the vents are facing.

I had to show someone at a ride they had their helment on backwards. Try to explain that to someone without sounding like you are trying to make them look stupid.

jhughes, if it turns out you had it on backwards please disregard post #10. I had only read the first couple of posts.

If it was the fact that the helmet was backwards, this thread is gold.

j. hughes 04-22-09 06:58 AM

Come on, helmet backwards?
I'll pretend that wasn't a suggestion.
Its a Giro Havoc. Here's a pic with the visor on showing that the nub is indeed toward the front. I pushed the "nub" in a little so it doesn't protrude past the foam sticking out on either side of it and it is actually much more comfortable now.

I was going to suggest using a C-clamp to compress it a bit.
