Adding disc brakes to my Fuji

I have a Fuji Cross Comp and am thinking I need to add disc brakes, have any of you done this? What disc brake should I buy? Will they work with my upright brakes too? I'm 6'3" @ 250 and would like a bit better stopping power.

For disc brakes you first need:

Brake caliper mounts on the frame and fork.
Hubs with disc rotor mounts.

Without both, buy a new bike with disc brakes. Unless you're riding sloppy off road trails, you really don't need disc brakes. Just upgrade the pads on the brakes you have and have them set up correctly.

otherwise you can go for a mullet.
disc brake fork + wheel and canti in the back.

honestly I'd just go for a new bike with disc brakes since this is simpler.
here's a list of disc + drop bar bikes.

it'll take quite a bit of work to add disc brakes. you have to switch out the fork (get one with disc brake mounts), get a new wheelset that has a mount for the brake rotor, and then add a Avid BB7 Road disck brake. it's quite a bit more work and money. which is why i bought a road bike that came with disc brakes to start with.

you can use stronger cantilevers like the tektro CR720, and/or upgrade the pads and use koolstops.
