Hi Everyone,

It seems such a waste to throw away old tires when so much viable rubber is still left over. Especially on BMX/Fixie tires with coaster brakes, where 90% of the tire is still good.

I cut my tires up and have about 5 lbs saved in a box. So, the question is, what do you do with your unuseable tires?

did you cut them into little chunks?
They'd be a lot more useful if you had left them intact; you cut off the wire bead, then stuff them inside of a good tire to add an extra thick layer of puncture protection.

woah woah, everyone don't reply at once!

Thanks for your reply xeno. I was hoping maybe if I saved enough old rubber up I could sell it? But from my limited research it seems their only recycled. In one case I read old rubber gos into the rubber made at playgrounds. Providing for the community, a good way to cover up untaxed profits if you ask me. Who's making all the money off this used rubber? I want my share :|

Take them to a tire recycler. The shop I work for saves all the old tires and tubes and a tire recycling company comes and picks them all up.
