Giant or Trek

Any opinions on the Giant FCR1 versus the Trek 7.5? Very similar bikes, the Trek seems to be set up slightly more multi-purpose and the giant more road?

They're both kind of flat bar road bikes. I like the compact double crank and the wheelset on the Giant, but it's hard to say if it justifies the difference in price. I think this is a "ride 'em and see what you think" situation.

Thanks, do you prefer the double crank for reliability or weight reduction? In my neck of the woods the trek is $899 and the Giant is on sale for $949. I plan to put on an all purpose tire to cover occasional rides down gravel paths. My understanding is the deore lx is geared more for mountain biking and the 105 set is more for road. Not sure if this relates to durability or weight or both.
