Jersey selection,need help.
 

I need a long sleeve summer (hot) jersey for a unusal reason, all i know most of these jersey made from wicking material which and help remove the trapped sweat so you stay cool, my questions are...

which material is better for hot weather?
is the material in a long sleeve identicle to the short sleeve ( same brand, just the sleeve different)?
do the material shrink after washing?

They're specifically designed to block UV and to keep you cool. You could wear them with any jersey. I don't own a pair, but a lot of tri folks rave about them (and the DeSoto brand).

I'm just beginning to explore the tedious world of long-sleeved bike clothes, after having several actinic keratoses (sun-related lesions) removed from my forearms. I hate all of them, but the best I've found so far are some CoolMax long-sleeved T-shirts I bought cheap from Sierra Trading Post (sierratradingpost.com; they have a retail store here). They're light and fairly cool and wick well. don't know about their SPF value.
Just about every outdoor clothing company (Sahalie, REI, Cabela's, Scheel's and many others) makes sun-protective garments these days, and I assume most of the big bike-accessory places do, too (I don't wear bike-specific clothing, except for shorts and shoes, so I don't check the catalogs or Web sites). And Grant Petersen at Rivendell swears by ordinary cotton seersucker shirts. The waffle weave is cool and the loose fit lets air circulate. He used to sell them; maybe still does: www.rivbike.com
FWIW, I wear cotton long-sleeved T's a lot of the time. According to cycling legend, they get damp and don't dry out, but generally in the summer, damp is good.

My "Cool" summer clothing has a different feel to my other warm stuff- and checking the labels- they are made of 100% polyester. They are definitely only to be worn on their own on the hottest of days.

And I once made a mistake and bought a pair of Bib Shorts made in "Cool Max" material. Wrongly named their material as it is more like "Freeze Max". That stuff is cold on even on the hottest of days.

And never had any of my clothing shrink- even though I would like to think it has in the spring- but that is just the Chest slip down to the waist line.

Some people will wear long sleeve baselayers in the summer to keep the sun off their arms. The fit is snug so it'll wick moisture but the fabric is lighter than regular jerseys. Not sure how effective they are in blocking UV rays.

I have one long sleeve jersey that is the same fabric as my short sleeved ones. I don't wear it anymore as it didn't block the wind off my arms(I wear arm warmers instead).
