How to put this? I'll just cut to the chase: I have a recurring pimple on my butt. There, that wasn't so bad. Anyway, it comes and goes, but always comes again. Anyone else dealt with this? I guess I should just go to the Doctor, but I haven't quite worked up the nerve to do so. I figure it might help if I got some feedback before making that phone call(it's a lot easier to type"I have a zit on my a**" than to say it to some cute receptionist on the phone...I'm car free and ride every day, so it's become an issue, not really that painful, just there and annoying.

Do you wear skin-friendly shorts/pants/underwear/etc.? Do you keep clean and dry? Tried antibacterial soap? Or, antibacterial cream/ointments?

you might have a reoccurring ingrown arse hair. more common that you might think. have a doctor check it out when its inflamed.

It's pretty common--no need to be embarrassed talking to a doc about it. If you can't bring yourself to be specific, just say "some kind of boil or something on my leg." The cute receptionist won't see you with your pants off (unless you get lucky), and the doctor doesn't care.
Home treatment tips: You could try warm packs on it, a washcloth or towel dipped in hot water (or heated in the microwave), applied for 10 or 15 minutes twice a day. After a few days that may localize it ("bring it to a head," as grandma used to say), so you see a vislble, usually white bubble at the peak. One could, though I don't recommend you do, scrub the area and pierce that head with a sterile needle or scalpel and express the pus, then cover the wound and keep it clean while it heals. A scalpel slit is better than a pinprick, because it drains better; the head itself should have no nerves in it, so the operation will be pretty much painless. I did that to a patient once (I was an Army medic) and got 230ml of pus. A cup is 240ml. More advanced treatment involves putting in a drain, but you probably shouldn't try that at home.

If it indeed comes & goes - it's not exactly a pimple. Rather - it's a cyst that becomes engorged with sebum and, if not tended to, pus. One should speak to a dermatologist about how to remedy this. And you could offer to show it to the cute receptionist. Women are turned on by guy's backsides.

Could be a staph infection. Don't mess around with it. Go see a Dr. Preferably a dermatologist.

Read up on Ichthamol Ointment (aka "Black Salve") More effective than hot compresses to bring to a head.
An old WWII medic I once knew told me they used it to remove scrapnel during the war.

I use iodine liberally //when I wash up after the ride any place scuffed or skinned gets it.Kenneth/ when your rideing every day you have to keep ahead of the trouble spots Iwear only my shorts or trousers when rideing so clean and dry is the good word.

Not much more I can add to the discussion on the matter. It does not sound like a pimped to me at all. People ask me all the time "HEY LOOK AT THIS!" to see what I think it might be. Most of the time, you can tell by the color on and around the site. Things like redness on it and around it. Is there white on it at all, or black? Does it cause pain all the time, only when you push on it, or does it hurt less with being touched? If it keeps coming back in the same spot, my money is on it being a cyst and should be lanced immediately. The doc won't laugh or anything at you, so there is no need to be embarrassed. I see people with much worse and more embarrassing problems.

If anything, I suggest changing your soap/body wash. This may be causing irritation. Not to get too personal, but it also depends where on your rear it is. Rubbing on clothes or skin can also cause pretty intense irritations. Dry off really well after showers or swims too. If you are a sweaty person, use baby powder.

But really, go see your family doc or a dermatologist. If the pain is too much to bear, go to the ER and be prepared to sit on it for a while.

The bottom line here is you're not alone. Everyone has some weird medical thing that we keep secret and feel freakish for. And you know, we're all normal. Trust me, a doctor will be relieved that it's on your tush not in it

When the receptionist asks what the problem is, just say that you'd prefer to tell the doctor directly. I've done that a few times. It's a reasonable approach.

Reading this I realized that I've never been asked by a non-clinical person (receptionists, etc.) why I was seeing the doc. Checking with others here they confirm that they haven't either. I know that patient-doctor confidentiality is taken very seriously here, maybe they're instructed to not ask?... and thinking about it I wouldn't feel comfortable talking to them about it either, regardless of what the condition was.

Just tell them you have an issue with a recurring sore \ pimple or whatever.
Heck, tell the receptionist where it is located. They do not care.
Once you get a bit older and issues come up your modesty should disappear.
Try a hemorrhoid or fissure. Nothing helps getting over this issue than talking for 30 min about your bum and not to forget the exams. However, the pain outweighs the modesty and you just want it done with. Thus, the modesty goes out the window.

i don't know... i had a recurring knot on my lower back, and it turned out to be a stopped up sweat gland... it was lanced and it went away... i thought it was a zit... shows what i know...

saddle sore
warm baths
use Clearasil after drying off
keep that area washed regularly with good soap and washcloth - don't rub it raw
20 min warm baths till it gets better

I am not intended to put down the OP. I just find it funny that he needed to get up the nerve to go tell a medical professional about something on his rear, but posted it to a forum where 1000s would read it. I know it is anonymous here, but I personally would still rather talk to my doc than post it here.

That said, I hope the advice here was helpful and you have this all taken care of. And I hope my comment that was written with a smile about the differences in how people approach issues was taken as it was meant.
