Did Vail Pass (Summit County, Colorado USA) today - Friday - going from about 8,800 or so feet to 10,600 feet. 28 mile round trip, wicked descent for 14 miles coming back. :D
Cold, got rained on at about 40 degrees on way back - a little fresh snow on the peaks. Great Day! Wish you all were there. [EDIT] Please see Saturday's relaxing ride at: http://64.191.20.129/showthread.php?t=56123 [END EDIT] . |

Two bikers coming down the trail. Folks get up to 40 mph (or more) coming down. My fastest was 38mph.

Copper Mountain Ski Area in the summertime. Mtn bikers love to come down those ski runs - take the gondola up, ride down! If you look closely in the middle of the picture you can see the water rings from where a fish just jumped. Loaded with trout!

And the annual Frisco barbecue cook off at the end of the ride. Dozens of cooks competing for prizes, and the food is for sale. Yum!

awsome pics. thanks for sharing.
that looks like it would be a fun descent because you dont have cars to watch out for and it looks pretty well paved... so long as nothing runs onto the trail :D. mmmmmmmmmmmmm barbecueeee.. |

Thanks - I enjoy sharing them. I have never had anything run into the trail. Mostly, the animals are at lower elevations, and there are not many walkers on the upper part of this trail, as it is a pretty stiff climb - up to some 12% grades, or thereabouts! However, there are more peds and kids on the last two miles nearing Frisco. |
Thanks for the pic of Copper in the summer. It's my favorite ski area! I already have my season pass for next year. I haven't mtn biked down those runs yet but I've skied down them many, many times.
I did 39.1 coming down a hill outside of Cincy Sat. but I'm sure it doesn't compare with Summit County. Kathi |
