does shaving prevent chaffing?

Hi,
I am new to the forums and was just wondering if shaving/waxing below the waist will prevent it or will it be worse when the hairs start growing back.
thanks

Short answer, don't know.

I would guess shaving would be horrendous, "down there" Waxing? <shrug>

Helps alot. I got no chaffing once I started shaving down south and no desire to go out and buy any creams or stuff.

I only shave about half-way up my thighs, since I can get lazy and let the stubble come in. I wouldn't want to have that poking me down there.

The best thing for chaffing is proper shorts. I wear cycling shorts with a chamois on my road bikes. I have a couple of bikes on which I don't need the chamois, so I have a pair of cycling shorts without the chamois that I use as underwear when I ride.

No idea but it is more fun with ones SO.

The stubble can be very, very bad.

Indeed! It's not that shaving in and of itself has anything to do with chafing, but rather that if you start shaving and don't keep up with it religiously, the stubble will rub you as raw as if you stuffed some 80 grit sandpaper down your shorts.

Shaving sure saves me from a lot of pain. Your skin down there gets used to the stubble growth. It's kinda like when you started shaving your face as a young man. At first your face felt raw from lack of shaving skill and the skin getting used to a razor.
As you shave to keep the stubble down, your skin will adapt to your new shaving routine.
Those disposible triple head razors are the gentlest and best to use. Single and double blade razors start off too agressive from the start. Triple head razors start off gentle and will just stop shaving when they get worn. It's better to always use a fresh razor anyway.

I shave bcuz it makes me faster.

AEO 07-19-09 12:59 PM

yes and no.

what shaving will prevent, is a rash from irritation to the skin because the loose part of the clothing is chafing the body hair.

Shaving down there sucks. Wax it off. It will hurt like a MOFO but the hair will take much longer to grow back.

Good idea. Chicks dig it too.

Wrong. Shaved/waxed man parts are creepy.

There is no right and wrong, only preference. Some prefer the fuzz, others the clean look.

Suuure it does. And always use a bigger wheel on the rear. That way, you're always going downhill. And always throw away the valve caps. The wind resistance is ferocious, and every bit of weight adds up.

.......ummmm, it's a little unclear exactly what particular real estate is being discussed in this thread. 'down there'. 'down south'. 'below the waist'.
This is not a request for pics but where would you start shaving this hairy fella?

Nermal 07-19-09 09:53 PM

Wouldn't even pick it up, Jan. I've heard they break if they take a fall. Probably need 8 razors, anyway.
