Share Your Best Bike-Related Business Ideas (existing or potential)
Hello there,
I've wanted to start a thread to discuss unique and creative bicycle-related businesses that you have seen, used or simply thought of. In other words, companies that revolve around or incorporate bicycles into the core of their business model.
It can range from something like SoupPeddler.com (soup delivery by bike) to businesses that simply support cycling (e.g. commercial bike lockers in Metro areas). The only thing that I would ask not to include are the most common ones, such as bicycle shops. Aside from that, anything goes!
The only other criteria is that the business needs to (or, at least have potential to) generate revenue and be self-sustainable.
Looking forward to your responses!

Not my idea, but a very good one:

I would have no problem paying a initial fee and/or a reasonable yearly fee if it would help insure the return of my bike if it was stolen.

How about an internet mail order business where you can buy really cheap chinese bike stuff with your credit card, and as a profitable sideline we'll sell your credit card details on the black market to identity thieves.

Why? So a total newbie, we all trust, can take them with him as he departs to other venues. Like the patent-office...

Friend of mine has a trailer, sorta getting into a habit of friends of friends asking him to help transport their furniture whenever they also move.
Its Santa Cruz, I guess lots of college students don't have their own cars, or they like the idea of green transport...

urban delivery and freight hauling has been done and could be very viable with the right contracts. CSA deliveries, short haul for hire.
