Computer position

I just got new bars I'm getting them set up and I'm wondering where people put their computers. I usually have mine on the bars but I'm thinking of mounting it on my stem. What do you think?

It depends.

If your computer came with a mount to mount it on the stem that's my preference. Leaves more of my handlebars free to rest my hands on. In fact, I bought a whole new speedometer just so I could mount it on my stem.

If you computer didn't come with a stem mount you just have to mount in on the handlebars. I guess you could mount it on the stem, but then it would be sideways.

I've also seen people mount it on the top tube right by the handlebars - it's harder to see while you're riding, but not that different and it's off the handlebars. I didn't do that just because that's where my bike light battery mounts.

Kinda like that idea. Who makes that kind of helmet?

BTW - what was wrong with this thread?

It is easier to get the right viewing angle when on the bars

I used to have mine on the stem or on the bars near the stem, but since I got a Garmin 305 (reasonably pricey) I have moved it out further forward on to one of these.

Not only is the viewing position better (I don't have to look down as much), but I don't pour as much sweat on to it.
