Free Spirit

From all the threads i posted i guess that im gonna use my money to fix up my free spirit at1800 instead of buying some walmart bike. Good decision?

I'm probably not to objective in this matter as I hate WalMart. But that's certainly one good option to look into. If you go look at the other thread of yours on WalMart bikes, I left you some clues in it. So tell us more about your Free Spirit. Some of them were very capable machines. And post some photo's too - if you can.

At very least you're looking at a full tune-up for the bicycle. And we can likely talk you through, and link you to, how to accomplish this yourself.

My sister had a Free Spirit back in the 70s. She beat the crap out of that thing and it just kept going. It was like a Timex (you're too young to remember the Timex commercials-- "It takes a lickin and keeps on tickin").

Good luck, keep us posted and feel free to post any questions about getting it up and ridable.

Throw some chain lube on, put air in the tires, tighten up all the nuts and bolts. And there you go. Id' rather have a old free spirit bike then a new department store bike any day. Plus its going to be eaiser to work on.

Was that the bike with the pedal falling off? Good luck.
If you do buy a bike, and don't have much cash, buy something simple.
