Let me get this straight...You're running a 2 X 9 setup? 2 chainrings in front, and a 9-speed rear end?

I don't think you're going to find a huge selection... I found these which appear to be a slight upgrade; they're about 10 bucks more than the 440s from the same site:

yes running a Tiagra rear DR,,, 9 speed,,, and 2 chain rings in the front,, Shimano 105 group,,,,

was thinking of upgrading the rear DR to the 1059 speed and the shifter to the Shimano sl-r660,,, just not sure I will notice the difference,,,,,,,,,

If you are running 9 speed, then there is plenty of choice of shifters on mountain bikes. These will work with road deraillers and Cassettes so choose the quality you want and look at them. Tiagra shifters are about the same quality as Deore- but upgrades from there run LX-XT and XTR.

Shouldn't matter, just wind the limit screw(s) in and use only 2 positions on the lever.
