Leather bar tape: How To Question

Hi All,

I recently purchased a pair of selle an-atomic bar tape for my 1985 Raleigh Supercourse. To my dismay the package arrived as just 2 strips of leather, with no instructions or recommendations on how they should be used. Should I use double sided tape on one side of the strip to ensure it stays bonded to the bars or should I wrap them over something (ie cork tape/cloth).

Thanks in advance,
Jon

Go to youtube and search "how to wrap bicycle handlebar tape". You'll get dozens of videos.

I wrap my bars on my PUCH with Brook's Leather. From the stem-down. Never had a problem:

There is a small, center-strip of weak adhesive. I rather doubt that it contributes to the staying-power. I've re-used leather-tape several times on bikes, so the adhesive was long gone. Never had a problem with it coming loose. It's all about your wrapping-technique that gives it the staying power.
